Hey Lumberjockies,

I have seen one of our fellow LJ members post his pizza peel and I just had to have one. Well, my wife did and, I thought that it was an excellent idea.

I decided to have a little fun and video the process, no commentary, just work. This is part one and I will make part two when I work on the peel next.

I had fun making this video and I hope that you enjoy it too.

Hey Brett – if you go to your youtube video and click on the Share button below the video, and then click on the Embed button, a little text box comes up with the embedded code (with it already highlighted). If you copy it and then paste it onto your blog here on LJ’s, we’ll be able to see the video instead of having to follow the link (which some people dont like to do).

Hopefully you dont mind that I did this for you above…

I liked your video! I’m a big pizza fan – I need to make one of these!

I’m glad i’m not the only one to use the ole finger method of spreading my glue around :) :) Can’t wait to see the next video! Thanks a lot for sharing

Right on! I wondered how to do this. Thank you, I don’t mind that you “fixed” the video for me. :)

Spreading glue with my finger works much better for me. I have tried using spreaders but I end up making a bigger mess. And I really like pizza. I don’t think that there is such a thing as “bad” pizza, just good and better!

What kind of miter saw blade was that? Never seen transparent blade. I did one of these at school, turned out to be useful for my teacher :D

Hey Niko, the blade is a Freud Avanti, 96 tooth with the silver coating. It looks like it is transparent on the video but it is just the reflection on the blade.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. Part II may be delayed for about a week. I was hoping to be done with the peel by now but things have gotten busy and I haven’t been able to work on it any. I do have part of it put together (video) but now I am at the slow part of shaping and sanding. That will be a small part on the video but the longest part of the project.

I watched this in reverse – saw part 2 first. Great documentary on how this is done. Certainly have a nice set of tools. You must really enjoy working with wood, plus – you know what you are doing – always a plus! You did a great job. I’m sure this will become a family heirloom.

As for the pizza comments… no there are definitely bad pizzas. Pizza Hut for one makes a horrible pie. Not authentic in the least. I tend to stay away from any pizza joint with a registered trade mark. It’s shame that by now several generations have grown up thinking some pimple faced kids at pizza hut, pappa johns, little ceasars… makes pizza. Then one day I take them to a small shop where the garlic hits you in the face as you get out of your car, the dough and sauce has been made fresh and some guy name Joey, or Louie, or Vito is spinning the shell in the air… THEN they begin to understand. And that first bite converts them for life!
