Dennis you inspired me by entering your work in the Cure for the Common Cabinet contest at finewoodworking.com.

Of course I don’t have your talent so I didn’t enter it to compete at all but since I have never entered a contest before I decided to put my entertainment center up anyway.

I still plan to vote for yours though.

Thank you for the inspiration

Nice work. Good to see you stepping out there with your project.

Dennis is a class act. He inspires me as well.

Thank you Bothus.

That is a great looking entertainment center. You have a good chance of winning. I really like your side pull outs, for dvd, cd, & vcr storage.

I don’t know how I will do in the contest. Because some other woodworker commented on my chess table, chairs. He said “were’s the cabinet”

I replied to him, telling him that their are for hidden drawers inside the table were you can store all the chess pieces.

Their is no cabinet so I don’t know what the FW judges will do. When I entered I didn’t even think about the cabinet part. O well, good luck to you!!!

Thanks Jim and Todd.

Dennis, I see what you mean about your chess set not being considered a cabinet but the contest is for the “uncommon” cabinet so we will see. If you don’t win I believe you will do very well. There is no denying the beauty of the design and the attention to detail you have put into that set. It is definitely uncommon.

Bothus,
I really like your entertainment center. Good use of space with the pullouts since flat panel tv’s aren’t as deep as older sets. Looks like a common cabinet, but with some decidedly uncommon (and handy) features.

Although I don’t know what the final verdict will be on Dennis’s chess set, I think we can all probably agree that it’s a fantastic piece of work and an inspiration to us all.

Love the entertainment center! SWEET!

First impression was, eh, just another entertainment center. Then out come the hidden DVD/VCR compartments. That was a great idea.
