Master Bedroom Armoire (Closet Replacement) #1: Planning

A couple of years ago I converted our master bedroom dressing/vanity area into a full bathroom. In doing so, I eliminated my wife’s closet which left only a small closet in the master bedroom. Rather than building a framed/drywall closet, I wanted our master closets to appear more like pieces of furniture.

The armoire will be about 8’x8’ (built in 2 pieces and then connected once in place). I haven’t finalized the depth dimension.

Here are my sketches in the following order: 1) Front-view 2) Individual component drawings 3) Overlay of components

I still need to fully dimension my drawings and do a cross-section.

I don’t know what type of wood I’ll be using. We’re leaning towards an antique white finish with the dark brown antiqued technique (something I know very little about), so I’m not sure what the best choice of wood would be for that… or if it matters at all.

It’ll be a month or so before my next update as I’m out of town and away from my shop.

Bosch 1617EVSPK $160 at Amazon

I decided on the Bosch 1617EVS(PK), so kept my eyes peeled over the last week or so on the different retail sites, including craigslist and ebay for a possible used one.

Amazon’s price for the “Bosch 1617EVSPK 12 Amp 2-1/4-Horsepower Plunge and Fixed Base Variable Speed Router Kit with 1/4-Inch and 1/2-Inch Collets” was $200 (pretty competitive based on my searches but not a huge bargain), but today I realized that Amazon is having a Bosch tool promotion until May 31st. If you spend $100, you get $20 off… if you spend $200, you get $40 off.
Since Amazon was kind enough to price this package at $200 (instead of $199.99), I got an extra $40 off. Free shipping, and no taxes charged at checkout…. so $160.00 final price on the router I wanted!

I’m not sure if this is that great of a deal, but in only one week of keeping my eye out for this router, it’s by far the best deal I found.

I thought I would share this info in case others are in the market for this router or any other Bosch tool.

Note: You won’t see the discount applied until you get to the credit card page.

Hope this is helpful.

Also, I hope I put this in the right spot (blog)...I’m new at this.
