no previous part Part 1 of Master Bedroom Armoire (Closet Replacement) series no next part

A couple of years ago I converted our master bedroom dressing/vanity area into a full bathroom. In doing so, I eliminated my wife’s closet which left only a small closet in the master bedroom. Rather than building a framed/drywall closet, I wanted our master closets to appear more like pieces of furniture.

The armoire will be about 8’x8’ (built in 2 pieces and then connected once in place). I haven’t finalized the depth dimension.

Here are my sketches in the following order: 1) Front-view 2) Individual component drawings 3) Overlay of components

I still need to fully dimension my drawings and do a cross-section.

I don’t know what type of wood I’ll be using. We’re leaning towards an antique white finish with the dark brown antiqued technique (something I know very little about), so I’m not sure what the best choice of wood would be for that… or if it matters at all.

It’ll be a month or so before my next update as I’m out of town and away from my shop.

Ryan, I’m in the process of doing the same thing. My design will have all drawers on the bottom 1/3 and made out of poplar painted white. I’ll be watching with great interest.
