Mike Allen in Carlsbad, CA refurbished my Dad’s D-8. It was made between 1878-1888. I recall my Dad ripping a long board with it when I was very small. Then using a hand plane to put in double windows in our old house in South Dakota.

Everytime I use my LV LA block plain I love it more. I just got done on getting some high places out of a cherry clock door frame. Then I closed up the mouth some and used it as a finish plane. It sure beats having to drag out another plan to get the same great results.

Shooting Board - Wife - 6 replies

My wife has always taken some what of a dim view on the use of hand tools especially hand planes. Today we were fitting up a cherry Shaker wall clock. Sharpening Service - 9 replies

It is time to get my circular saw blades sharpened. I had them done by Woodworker last time with good results. It has come to my attention they might not be as good as they once were. Resawing - 8 replies

Would someone please give some advise on resawing lumber? I would be dealing mainly walnut and cherry. The lumber would range from 10-12’’ in width. I know I’m in for a workout. I can only do 6’’ on my band saw and it gets a workout even using a good blade.

Dialing In - 1 reply

I have my Leigh D4R dialed in using 3/4 pine. Will these settings hold true on poplar? I’m making a test blanket chest using poplar to lessen my chances of screwing up more expensive lumber and to keep the pucker factor low.
