Unisaw mfg date - 2 replies

I have tried to log into the old tool site without success. It seems that I had registered there years ago and cannot remember my user name to get a new pass word.I cannot find when my Unisaw , serial #89E25418, was made. Help Please. Thank you.

My wife is a football junkie. I am so sick of it. The shop is unheated and needs a major overhaul so I can walk around in it. so that is a no go.I must not be a real man not caring for sports. Would knitting be OK for me during these dark times? There is so little time between the Super Bowel and preseason games.

I plan on using this varnish, with a top grade brush, on a walnut or cherry blanket chest. I have the Behlens Solvent for thinning and plan on using a 50/50 mix for the first coat. The following coats would be thinned 20%. This is gloss and I plan on rubbing it to satin after a 30-40 day cure in the house.How many coats would suffice? Am I miss...

Our Samoyed puppy should arrive this week. This will #4 in our nearly 50 year marriage and I am on pins and needles and as excited as if I were 6 instead of 70.Others sure light up when you tell them your getting a puppy. The dog is one of God’s great gifts to man.

Dad's D-8 - 2 replies

Mike Allen in Carlsbad, CA refurbished my Dad’s D-8. It was made between 1878-1888. I recall my Dad ripping a long board with it when I was very small. Then using a hand plane to put in double windows in our old house in South Dakota.

Everytime I use my LV LA block plain I love it more. I just got done on getting some high places out of a cherry clock door frame. Then I closed up the mouth some and used it as a finish plane.It sure beats having to drag out another plan to get the same great results.

Would someone please give some advise on resawing lumber? I would be dealing mainly walnut and cherry. The lumber would range from 10-12’’ in width. I know I’m in for a workout. I can only do 6’’ on my band saw and it gets a workout even using a good blade.
