Location: Kalbarri, Western Australia. 600 klms north of Perth. Mouth of the Murchison River.
I am retired and 71 years old. I have been interested in Woodworking all my life, and won my first competition in Year 10 at High School. 1960.
It all started when I was about 4 or 5 years old, Santa gave me a set of wood working tools and the first thing I did with the saw was to cut off one of the handles from Dad's wheelbarrow.
My real interest and hobby started 9 years ago when I got my first Lathe. I have never had a lesson so everything I have learnt has come from forums like this one and others including books and magazines. And I look forward to working with you all.
I do mostly lathe work, although I have built cupboards and all sorts of other items.
I am interested in many other crafts, such as Pottery, Glass, Mosaics, just to mention a few.
-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

Sorry but I have no photos of this next step. I know that is bad. Something I forgot to mention in the first part of this blog. I do not attempt to work straight onto those rough points, I start at either end and work in from the faceplate/tai...
My over the road neighbour was very kind to me and bought back two lumps of Sheoak, Casuarina ?? for me to play with.I first split off the heart piece that was only half the depth of the block and made a little bottle for my Vi...
Well, the first in this series was a little on the ordinary side, that is not very creative, so it was time to step up a little and try something that quite frankly scared me.But the result will be rather nice if I do say so myself. This is unf...
Hi people,I have started working with segments amongst all the other things that I do. This is a very interesting and challenging thing for me, and I think that I was conned by my mate “Rockbuster” into trying this. He is so good t...
