I stumbled on this forum while looking for a 10” Jointer/Planer and saw the thread started by Nancy McCorry and the replies that followed. First, let me congratulate you all on a job well done. I almost felt sorry for the CEO the way he had to apologize for his company’s crappy performance.
Anyway, I live close enough to Irvine to drive down to their headquarters and pick a winner so to speak, so I contacted them to see when their showroom would be open. They have a live chat option, which is convenient, but when I asked if I could come by the showroom, the customer service rep replied that they didn’t have one! He did offer to let me “open one up and inspect it before buying it.”
My good thoughts about going to meet the people behind the machines and picking out a sweet, expensive piece of equipment evaporated. What’s left is the thought of having a warehouse worker lug a box down to the floor for me (the dumb SOB that’s holding up his shipping schedule) to open, examine, and possibly send back for a second, or third until I find one that looks good enough to take home. I don’t think that I’m picky, but the scratches, dents, bent fences etc. that I’ve been reading about all over the internet make me wonder what’s going on over there.
I still might go through the hassle if the equipment is as advertised. So the big question is: are the machines worth buying or not?
