Big eyed great-grandaughter

A couple of months ago I delivered a special wooden bowl to my middle daughter, I have three daughters,
and she was baby sitting a granddaughter who looked at the bowl and then looked up at me with those
big eyes (Wives are special, daughters even more so, grandaughters are angels in disguise and great grand
daughters let you know there really is a God and she is looking at you) and asked if I would make her
a little bowl. The answer was yes and I went home and made a special bowl about 3” diameter and 3”
high, gave it a finish of 3 sanded coats of Bullseye Sealcoat and 3 coats of water based satin verathane.
I checked online and although legal issues will not allow the manufacturers claim this finish to be food
safe, it was reasonably safe and durable. I delivered this and recieved proper thanks and forgot about
it. Last night my daughter informed me that the bowl was being used for cereal at breakfast through
ice cream desert at supper because “I asked granpa and he made it for me.” More internet searching
has assured me that the finish is reasonably safe, but not real durable in this usage so now I am in the
process of making a bowl of Koa wood, the Hawaiians have been using this for wooden dishes for a
long time and giving it a food safe finish so I can have the first bowl used to put on the shelf and just
look pretty. Beware what you are asked to make and be certain you know its usage when you dealing
with children.

You’re absolutely right, if there is a God (just a figure of speech, not a comment on religion), she is a female because they are all special and the younger they are (before he world has had a chance to work on them), the more special they are. Don’t get me wrong, sons and grandsons are special too in their own dirt stained devilish way but no one is as special as a young daughter, granddaughter etc.
