I recently built a Cedar Fence and now have the bug to start doing more wood projects. My wife actually found this site and sent to me when were started looking for ideas of how to build a wood chest cooler out of scrap cedar.

Other than basic tools such as drills, jig-saw, recipricating saw, circular saw, I did just get a very nice 12" compound miter saw for Father's Day. Now I just need to find some more projects to put it to good use.

Welcome Jeff! Yeah, this is a unique site chocked FULL of craftsmen who [just between you and I] don’t really know how good they are. :) What you’ve done is something to really be proud of. It looks like a seasoned carpenter/contractor built this. I live in South Carolina and deer are thick here. It’s a unique idea that should work. They won’t like to try to jump through the opening (though they probably could-kind of like the lightweight fence that keeps the 2000 bull in the pasture) and as long as the top rail is high enough, it should work great. As far as the craftsmanship, you’re dead on. I’m going to watch this thread. Let us know in a week or three how it works.
