A good friend of the wood working community, Marc Spagnoulo aka The Wood Whisperer, was testing General Finishes new product, Wood Turners Finish (WTF). Yes that’s what they call it. He doesn’t do many turnings and ask if I was up for testing the product and writing a review. I was very excited about doing this. Here is the link to the article on his site: http://thewoodwhisperer.com/general-finishes-wood-turners-finish/
Marc has his review of wiping it onto a board and then my review of using it on turned items. There is a video of me using the finish on a turned apple wood bowl. There is also a picture of the bowl with 3 pens that I used it on. WTF is different than any other finish that I have used but after I adjusted it worked out quite well. I would recommend giving it a try.

From the title of the blog, I thought this was going to be about something General Finishes did wrong. Not the best acronym for a product name! LOL!

Lol, I thought the same thing when I saw the “WTF”....Great minds think alike. I like the water base finishes for the easy clean up….but they don’t seem to penetrate as good as an oil finish. Does this have a decent build (i.e. does it create a good finish after only a few coats – or does it dry thin and need several more?). I am always looking for finishes that are easy to apply, clean up and give a nice professional finish (like looking for a flying pig sometimes).

Thought you had a problem with General Finishes there for a minute Bill!
Glad to see it worked out.
And being asked to review a product by The Wood Whisperer himself is quite an honor.
Nice job !

I’d buy some, but there’s already enough WTF in my shop, usually when things don’t go the way they’re supposed to…
