Varnish curing time? - 2 replies

Completing a project now with multiple coats of wiping varnish.Want to rub out with wax for a satin finish, and was wondering how long should I let the varnish cure before using the 4 ought steel wool and wax to achieve final luster.I do not want any high gloss as this will negate the look that I/we want.Bill

Sand paper from SHOPSMITH? - 3 replies

I recently bought a 5” sanding pad (Shopsmith brand) ‘cause it fit all the discs I have, and it came with some of the Ssmith paper. The paper seems to be a good quality product, and now I’m seein’ more of the paper at Lowe’s.Just wonderin’ if any of you folks have tried the paper.BTW, the pad works very well.Bill

What oil to use on router bearings??? - 50 replies

I’ve been using a light weight general purpose oil for the bearings (mostly shielded), but was wonderin’ what you guys use. Seems like the high speed might require a different viscosity or type. Am I just worryin’ too much?Bill
