Saw sharpeners in the USA - 1 reply

I have a really good W. Butcher tenon saw that needs to be jointed, filed and set.The saw works well as it is (rip filed), but just needs to be properly tuned and tweaked for optimum performance in the rip mode.Who do you folks use/recommend? I’m not in a big rush, but 10 to 12 weeks from one shop is a bit much.Cost? Time? Best way to p...

Just a heads up..... - 10 replies

I’ve not necessarily been a big fan of borg tooling, but recently needed to make some fine/clean cross grain cuts.Bought an Irwin #213104 pull saw on a whim. Just used it today for its intended purpose.Worked like a champ. Danged if I won’t use it more often on DTs and mortice/tenon joints.I was impressed. Straight and clean cuts....

I’ve tried the Craftsman and the Harbor Freight jig.Lots of slop in the drill guides, and have to refine the joints a bunch. Is there a good, moderately priced jig that is reasonably accurate?Don’t use one that often, but would like to have a degree of accuracy that will diminish the “futzing” of the joints after I’v...
