Maine Adirondack Chair

This was the first chair I ever made, and it was just a huge hit with my neighbors. It is a pattern from a chair I measured when I lived in Maine that was very old, and very comfortable. The chair is slightly oversize and because the seat and the back of the chair are shaped to fit your bottom and your back, it is very comfortable.
My neighbor came over when I finished this prototype, and, not ten seconds later ordered four of them from me.
The word got out, and I’ve now made a whole bunch of them and have patterned each piece of the chair with templates.
This one is douglas fir.

Ship's Wheel

I made this wheel for a friends sailboat. The wheel is made of Honduras Mahogany and is 32” in diameter.
It is laminated from three 3/8” octagons which are laid up in a pattern. A template is used to index a router aound the each section and then spokeshaved. The finish is a high UV varnish.
