Hello everyone, I've been woodworking for 40 years. My grandfather was a craftsman and so was my father. I am a third generation woodworker. I am originally from Chicago and lived in Maine for 25 years.
I attended the Shelter Institute in Bath Maine in the late seventies ,and then built a timber frame solar home.
I've always been interested in boat building, and was also trained at the Bath Apprentice Shop in wooden boat building. I lived aboard my wooden boat full time for 12 years in Maine after I sold my house and was single again.
I am now in Ft Myers Fl, and remarried, and I have shop in my garage. I build mahogany runabouts and other small boats. I became fascinated with the James Krenov books and philosophy, and now try to do as much hand work as possible. Some of my current projects are a Krenov style showcase jewerly cabinet for my wife ,made of cherry and splalted maple with handmade ebony pulls.
I just completed my dream workbench which you can see in my workshop photos. I have just started to get interested in carving and since I have a new grandson, I'm planning to carve him a full size English style rocking horse for my next project. Thanks for welcoming me here, I look forward to meeting you all.
