Its that time of year again: HOLIDAY PROJECT TIME! So this year, I decided to make a few little keepsake boxes, thanks to some advice from The Great WOODini. I also took inspiration from a box Nicole keeps on her nightstand and developed a new design that is much more practical for the average woodworker to make. The boxes feature a secret locking pin. After posting the quilted lazy susan project, http://lumberjocks.com/projects/21623, many of you said you would like to see the jig for this project. I set out immediately to upgrade the jig. There were cuts I wanted to incorporate into this jig, and my original was warping and needed repair anyway.
So here it is – 24” X 33”
I am pretty proud of this jig, not only because I made it, but because the cuts made from this jig are right on the money.

First of all you have to determine what shape you will need that you can make accurately and repeatedly. This is where my jigs come in. I was to poor to buy several miter gauges so I made mine out of angle iron and bar stock. I made them set close to a certain angle, adjustable just a little. Welcome.Where do I start, at the beginning I suppose, I was born at an …..sorry not that far back!Ok let do this. [ I will be using imperial measurements throughout this blog..mainly ‘cause all wood working should be in imperial not metric! IMHO anyway]

I today discovered Cian Perez’s page, The Index of Fossil-Fuel-Friendly Woodworking Knowledge. This site is chock full of links and articles on using hand tools. A page is also available for power tools.
