Edit:WOW, THAT DIDN’T TAKE LONG: I do not endorse this product! I was kindly provided a scratch/dent version to evaluate. This is simply an invitation to help me form an opinion before a formal review.
I was asked to put the new RoboReel Cord Reel through its paces in my shop. I figured I’d blog about it first, so I could answer any questions with the unit in front of me; then post a formal review after thorough evaluation.
.
I was excited to learn about this unit, as I’ve already gone through several. It’s going to be at a high price point for a retractable reel, but I think it has some features that might very well justify the expense.
.
Here’s a video showing some of it’s features:
http://youtu.be/43zQHnQCNBg
.
Their website is here:
http://roboreel.com/
.
I received the unit in two pieces: 1) the main unit and 2) the wall mounting option. There is an optional ceiling mount and the unit has it’s own frame to stabilize it.
.
.
It came well packed and the device is substantial in weight.
.

.
.

.
It’s got a pretty small footprint and the plastic shell is quite thick and hard.
.
.

.
The wire is very heavy gauge and the plug is heavily rubberized.
.

.
I’ll try to get it mounted up and charged this weekend and start brutalizing it. If anyone has any questions that I can answer, shoot!

looks interesting Al. None of these are cheap, so I’d be interested to know what It’s going to be at a high price point for a retractable reel means.

Did stretch just call me out on my smartphone skills, lol? It’s hard to take a picture on crutches…whimper….whimper.

Lol, Tony, I’ll see if they make a piano black one for you. It might be extra for a red lightning bolt, though.
.
Don, it’s a pretty high price point:
. Portable Cord Reel
$329.00
.
The circuitry and the motorized retraction are some really nice features I’m looking to check out. I plan on brutalizing it, so we’ll see:)

What a waste of money. Come on guys, I mean really! $329 for an extension reel? Has the world gone mad?
