Trapezoid and Rectangles

The quadrilaterals signify 4 sides… trapezoid, rhombus, squares, parallelogram, etc..

Here below is the actual RANDOM trapezoid and rectangles that I had directly cut without any plans.

First, I started with the center square then walled it with trapezoids. Continue the symmetry of the trapezoid and whatever left spaces were filled up with rectangles. It turned out to be good. The organized random will be visible because, I have to cut in pairs of these trapezoid, however the connection with other rectangles are not in colors with the effect… therefore you can see different figures and not an illusion.

For me, it become a real abnormality in forming an organized random… the sizes are not repeated and has to be cut individually.. I will reveal the secrets of constructing the sides if I will be successful.

HERE ARE SOME PHOTOS:

If I will make it as a box then the sides can be connected adding some motif in a quartz like hexagon….

If you have some suggestions for the sides…. just be on the 4 blend of colors as I have limited leftovers…
I am just using recycled wood.

Thanks,

A Wedding Gift

It's a mixed emotion letting go of something special from your collection. Last January 4, 2014, I attended a wedding of Gerard and Connie from Toronto, Canada who held their church wedding here in Manila that became a much memorable day. My wife Agnes had already given me time to make one box as a gift however, the box I made is not really as smooth surface after finishing… meaning not really worth giving. So, I told her to just select from our collection. She was looking until she picked up this….

This was already posted as project Trapezoid and Rectangle

It was one my successful projects being fitted with a wooden hinge and also made out of several species of wood that were keep in my storage bin (scrap). On the other hand, I am also happy to present it to the couples as they will cherish forever… Aside from the fact that I can still follow up the years to come with that box. Most of my boxes were gift to my relatives and they always tell me how good the boxes I gave and they ask for more.

Together with this gift, I also gave Connie's parents (Nestor and Marilou) who is also resident of Toronto six pieces of coasters with a container cylinder and a trivet (hexagonal). They are also happy knowing that these are all made by my hands. Here are some of the photos.. (I forgot to take photo before we gave it.)

The cylindrical container on the right was the one that contained the coasters.
The trivet design looks like the lid cover of the cylindrical container.

The coasters looks exactly the above however they are separated as hexagon coasters. (Sorry, I was not able to take photo)

Thanks for reading. Just want to share to you the journey of a box. after 260 days ago the time I posted this as project.

Have a nice day!
