« Part 2: HUTCH & SHELVE COMBINE Part 3 of UNPOSTED PROJECTS -- NOW POSTED series no next part

These are the words of mouth from those who saw my multiple drawer. I made this after collecting toner drum catridges from a copier. I have seen the possibility of recycling it to a drawer because of the linearity of the protruding guide slide. This is definitely a difficult situation of making a groove precisely cut in between division panels. I used 3/4 plywood which is also scrap pieces. Another challenge was to utilize the top and the bottom as trays. Finally, I have made 12 drawers and a bottom shelf plus a top tray that can hold heavy stuffs. The construction was really strong as there are 5 panels of 3/4 plywood standing erect and supported at the back by a cover of 1/2 plywood then on the front by 3/4×1/4thick of intelaced wood strip. On top and bottom are 3/8 ply board serves as the enclosure.

This might help give you an idea that plastic slides better with wood. It selves as self lubricated slides. By the way, the contents of each drawers are scrap bearings, solid shafts and rods and aluminum rollers that were also from toner catridges. They are just waiting to be recycled. There was already a guy who saw this and wants to have one….

Great idea. They would make nice screw trays also.
