I was looking on Ebay for a bit before I left for the shop yesterday and found a Delta contractor saw that looked to be in nearly new condition for $450. I contacted him and he said I could come look at it. It was a bit of a drive, 3 hours or so to Richmond Va from here, but I REALLY need something better than The Hitachi I have been using for the last few years. It served well for what I needed to do, but it was beginning to be more trouble than it was worth. So I got hold of my buddy Steve and we drove down in his truck. Got there and gave the saw a good looking over. Nice machine, no play in the arbor at all, ran quiet and smooth, and obviously used but taken care of. It also had the 30” Beisemeyer fence. The only things wrong with the saw were mostly cosmetic and easily repairable. When the guy moved, the movers dropped the fence and the front edge was dinged and the plastic edge banding was loose there. I can take care of that. When they moved the saw, they picked it up by the end of the extension board and the end board came loose. No problem, I’m going to modify that anyway. He said the miter gauge was still packed in a crate somewhere in the garage and when he finds it he will ship it to me. He said he had no idea if the blade guard still existed or not. I made a few test cuts and it performed wonderfully. I offered him $400 for it and he took it. Done deal. Loaded it in the truck, shook his hand and we were off. Today, I’ll recheck everything, tweak it if I need to and work on a crosscut sled. I will update this evening with a few pictures. Time to go, I haven’t been this excited to get to the shop for a while. I love new toys!(umm, TOOLS)

Will do! I’m soooo ready to step up my game and the hitachi just wasn’t allowing that.

I have a Delta contractors saw also. I bought it new and I just got through tuning it up with a new pulley set and a link belt. The Beisemeyer fence, after much tweaking, is not completely flat but is only out a couple of thousandths. The pulley set and belt took out all vibration upon start up.
Congratulations on a good buy and good luck with your new saw
