I am very sorry that the tutorial is still down. I lost all the pictures and just have moved on to other things. But the good news is that others have come to the rescue with their own tutorials and are just as good…even better than mine. Here is one by Scott http://lumberjocks.com/projects/58221Andy

The grease box story.Chapter four: The grease.
So something I’m sure many have been waiting for;
What the heck is it you put in that grease box!
The grease, wax, tallow, fat or lard:Yes here I will get in trouble no doubt! Before I start this writing, I’ll tell you that it’s a personal choice at the end, so do not listen too much to what you hear or read around, find out what fits you for your use, or perhaps like me have several for different purposes. There are many theories of what...

I received a couple of comments with regards to how I build the wooden rings in my gallery, so I thought this would be a good place to share a bit about my process.
This will not be the best-worded blog entry. I’ll just kinda let my mind spill…
My very first rings were done in the bentwood style, which involves some trial-and-error, custom jigs, a great amount of patience and an even greater amount of time to achieve the contrast similar to the rings done in the layered sty...

I’ll try to explain how I did this project:http://lumberjocks.com/projects/38288
1. I take a cutoffs, which just can’t to waste
2. Cut them into small pieces, not necessarily cubic:
3. Disks we need: 40, 120, 320 sand paper and wool disk
4. A tin and PVC stripes for soundproofing:
5. My driil. It can work for hours at speed ‘C/D’ (i have been told it could be problem for drills).
6. An IKEA stool and milled groove in it for the tin.
7. The...

You guys really liked my last blog post about the Jarvi Bench, which made me happy as it was my 200th.
I thought I’d follow up with a simpler process video I recently found that also makes me quite happy. In this one, a man named Robin Wood recreates the techniques used by one George Lailey, who died in 1958 at 89 years old. Robin spent 5 years researching Lailey’s techniques, recreating the very simple, entirely foot-powered lathe (a “pole lathe”), hand-forging all...

How to make an Art Box
by Andy Campbell
Safety
Be safe! Guards, etc…may not be visible in the pictures. This is written for woodworkers of all skill levels. But, please keep in mind that this is not woodworking #101. I am writing this in a step by step manner that should be easy for a beginner to follow, but some basic understanding of tools and terminology is required.I ask that the more advanced woodworkers be patient and not be offended. I don’t wish to test your...
