This is a short Video Tour of My Basement Shop

I love shop tours! I just enjoy looking at what others are doing and getting ideas for my own shop so here is my shop tour and I look forward to seeing other's shops! I just did a walk through with my cell phone. Sorry about the mess! And I am really excited about narrating as you can tell :)

Anyway….....Here is a

John, really nice shop tour. You got all the toys Mister. The square footage is nice also. My shop is the whole basement but I am restricted by low ceilings vent pipes and and so on. Quite an improvement from your garage shop.

John,

Wow, that's a real man cave for sure, very impressive collection of tools. Nice design and layout. Two bandsaws and full compliment of sharpening systems. Very cool.

I'm really interested in the Laguna Dust collector, been waiting for them to go on sale. Can you post another video of how much and how well that sucks up the saw dust from the jointer? And how loud it is?

If you ever get around to upgrading the floor mats, I'd recommend the same style interlocking types you can get from Costco. They are a little thicker and have a wood grain pattern which changes the whole look of the shop and makes standing a whole lot easier for long periods of time. Here's a link to my sho, this is an older picture, the shop now is filly covered with these mats. This is the best featuure of my shop by far.

I used to have that same Jet lathe which is a great tool but I upgraded when the Nova DVR went on sale two years ago. I noticed today they are on sale again this month at Woodcraft.

Again, that's one heck of a shop you have , I go as far to say a Dream shop. Have fun making sawdust! Thanks for posting the video.

Hi Bob,

The DC is awesome. Here is a pic of the planer and Jointer operation for the hope chest build.

And here is a silent video of my shop before I changed some things around where I turn on the DC and you can hear how it sounds.

Hi john, thanks for the extra photos. The noise level of the laguna is ok by me. My other main issue with my Jet collector is that is done fine with saw dust from sanders and bandsaw and sanding dust from lathe work. It struggles with chips from my 15" planer. Is the suction from your planer and jointer to you satisfaction being able to suck up the larger chips without issues? Thank you. Bob

Great shop tour. I am with you. I enjoy seeing what others do to thier shops. Some great ideas out there. You do have a nice supply of toys. Great to have friends huh?? I always seem to be a day late and a dollar short on the good used cabinets. Your shop looks so uncluttered with the tools and odds and ends put away.
Again, nice video…...........................

Hi Bob,

Yes, it gets the bulk of the chips from the jointer and the planer. I had just a little bit escape and that is to be expected, I don't know if there is any unit out there that would get all the chips from a planer. It was such a small amount it was cleaned up in a few seconds. I am totally satisfied with the Laguna and would buy one again!

Mike,

Thanks for the kind words!

John
