« Part 2: Work on mom recipe box today! Part 3 of Recipe Box Project! series Part 4: Started the finishing today! »

I did some sanding, resaw the top, install side peices. This is fun! I had to glue some peices up for the top.

looking good there , charles .

from the looks of the cut burns ,
i think you either need a sharper blade ,
or your fence needs to be adjusted .

i can see these pics. but not the icons yet.
and no meny bar for this comment window .

The walnut sure looks good! Bet the grain will really “pop” when you get to the finish stage!

That saw seems to be burning the cuts on the timber… as David suggests maybe sharpen the blade or make sure the fence is true..
Good start … can’t wait to see it finished…

Nice progress Charles. Glad to hear that you are enjoying the work. Many of us perform a task to get to the completed project, but I think it is reaching a level where one enjoys the process itself that turns us into a “real” woodworker. I think when you post the pics of the completed project, you should post one of your mom holding the box. It would be nice to see her beaming with pride over her talented son.
