My shop is 55×30. I have several shop projects that I want to complete in the future along with tool upgrades. I just set up my dust collection, but I need to increase the size of my dust collector. I need to build a new workbench along with insulate my shop. I heat it with a wood stove and a forced air kerosene heater when it is really cold. Insulation and dropping my ceiling will cut down on my heat loss. I also want to build a miter saw stand with a concrete countertop and shop cabinets to eliminate my shelving. I also use this space as my garage and can park two trucks in here with no problem.

You had me at 55×30 :-)

Great shop. It’s a sign of a guy who really likes his woodworking when he takes his shoes off, to work in the shop!

Great planer. Is that a speaker in the upper corner?? Nice!!

OhByTheWay: I never even realized people could put vehicles in garages ;-)

Wow, this is a nice shop that you have to work in, Beau. It looks like you have plenty of room in there and I would enjoy having this much ceiling height. I have 92” to the joists and it makes handling sheet goods and long boards a challenge at times to avoid hitting the lights. The windows are also a big bonus in my book. I would rather work under as much natural light as possible, especially when applying finishes.

You have some nice tools to play with as well. Being able to keep them set up and having enough space for the trucks is great. I tried keeping both a garage and a shop for a long time but eventually just gave up and let my truck sit outside. Not only did this save me the time and effort that comes from the constant set-up and tear down but it also gave me more room for tools!

Thanks for the pictures. I certainly would enjoy working in a shop like this and enjoyed touring yours.

Nice shop. Good tool selection. Looks like an older C’man contractor saw and a Bosch in there as well. Nice to have two table saws when going form cutting to dados…

Yeah insulation does wonders for keeping you from going broke trying in vain to heat the space…

Nice shop, really like the high ceilings and I would love to have a wood stove like that in my shop, thanks for the tour.

Hello Beau:

I’ve spent some time in W. Lafayette. My wife and I are both Purdue grads. A lot of guys would kill to have as much space as you do.

I see you lack space for another ladder, so to help you out, I’ll babysit the Ridgid osilating sander.
Nice set up, just love to see organization at work. Your router table is very nice. (I’m still working on mine.) and the cedar chest just told me how to refinish the one I’m working on for my granddaughter.
Oh yeah, welcome to LJ! Rand

Nice shop looks like you have plenty of space. (If that’s possible.)
