I’m getting closer to finishing this bandsaw box. The pulls were essentially carved using a bandsaw and one of my three Dremels. I decided that something more sculptural would be appropriate for the pulls and these pictures show what I’ve done with them. This also shows the first coat of Watco Natural Danish Oil….and I’ll let that sit a couple of day and do it again. The drawers are quite finished yet because they’ll be lined with elk hide. I bought an elk hide several years ago at a garage sale for about 10 bucks and it makes great lining for drawers and such…I’ll cut some paper to make patterns then cut each piece individually for the sides and bottoms of the drawers. When it’s fully done, I’ll post this to projects. I work so slowly….five minutes here….20 minutes there.
But any progress is a blessing since I have so many other chores….not just my elderly mother, but now, keeping the lawn mowed, etc. It’s American Elm from a tree dropped in Rapid City, South Dakota about 4 years ago….and I have way too much of it for the amount I’m using….but hey, they means I’ll be doing things with elm a long time. I had plans to give this away…since I need cash to buy tools and supplies, I’ll probably sell this on Ebay.
