A little shop time...

For those who know, I care for my elderly mother. I don’t sleep well and find I’m always trying to catnap while watching her…’cause I’m always listening overnight. I sprang up at a cough last night…ran to her bedroom to assist. I’ve managed to get a little time here and there in my shop in the last 2 days.
Seven or eight years ago I bought a draw knife and two spoke shavers…garage sales I think. The draw knife was still marked $5.00…a bit rusty. Well, I finally sharpened up the draw knife and the spoke shaver today…with my Tormek sharpening system. Woofy…before, one could not have cut butter with the draw knife. Now, it’s scary sharp. Same with the spoke shaver. Trung the stone with the diamond tool was very important…something I had not done before…that is a real necessity with this system. And it works like a champ. There are lots of sharpening systems…and people get fantastic results with just waterstones. I do like my Tormek system though it was spendy. A good set of waterstones might do better or just the same. Either way, my time is limited. A machine sharpening system saves time, I think. Which one? I don’t know for certain.
I’m a sucker for advertising like alot of people. And I thought a water grinding system would work better considering that I’ve used the other kind of grinder with poor results…always getting the blade too hot, I’m sure.
So, I have a really sharp draw knife now…and hopefully I won’t use it on butter. I’m looking at making a Swiss shavehorse now. I don’t know why…just am. I’ve got too much wood around here now that needs to be worked and not alot of time to do it in. Slowly. Very slowly. Cheers…and thanks for filling out the Census. I think I told them I was a flying Buddhist bunny with purple leopard feet. Imagine the government bureaucrats trying to figure out how much of the federal budget people like me should get…it’s diabolical. We’re a movement, I tell ya.

I’m glad you could finally get some shop time. God bless you for taking care of your mother!

Now, how can I become Buddhist Bunny with Purple Leopard Feet? That certainly sounds like an oppressed minority that’s truly endangered! We could get federal money and some land!

Good story and also would like to thank you for doing your part in making sure the Burro crats are hard at work.

Our Flying Buddhist Bunny reservation was shut down when they found dirt on it…and once your lose your land…you’re free…or homeless. It’s all a matter of attitude. But I do miss the twinkleberry bushes.

here’s to your ’ draw knife bench ’ , barry !

good to hear from you .

today it is Good Friday ,
there is a little church here where people walk to that need a blessing .
about 30,000 each year , all today !
it quite the spectacle .
it has gotten to be more like a giant ’ tailgate ’ party .
some drag crosses for 30 miles , and leave them and any crutches at the church .
there is a little room in the church , where they get ’ holy dirt ’ from .
the miracle is that it never gets any bigger ( the hole ) ,
i was asked to take some dirt to an old grandmother many years ago ,
i took her a little vial , and she said ’ thank you ’ and asked if there was still some left .
i told her i was very lucky to get there just as they were backing up a dump truck to the window ,
and got the freshest dirt they had !
farmers were selling it around the world , fresh from their corn fields !
let me know if you would like some , it’s a piece of heaven , all your own !
