A message from people I know on FACEBOOK…

””Kerry Lobel: Puente needs 3 picnic tables & benches. The school reclaimed theirs so Puente participants have no outdoor seating. Write with ideas. Thx.”“

Puente needs the help of someone who can build picnic tables and benches. Kerry is my friend who is involved in building the organization. Here’s her message to me…when I suggested some Lumberjocks might be able to help….

””Re: Picnic tables…outdoor seating…

Cool and thanks. We are in Pescadero on the south coast of San Mateo County, CA south of San Francisco between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz. Puente is a rural community resource venture serving 4 towns, 160 square miles.

Thank you!”“

If there are any Lumberjocks with usable reclaimed wood in that area or skills that you know of…this organization needs some picnic tables and benches…the link is for that organization. Thanks from Lumberjock BarryW….I’d help, but I’m in South Dakota!!!

I’m about two hours (good day, light traffic) north of Pescadero. Don’t have the lumber to build these with, but three picnic tables with benches should be a light half-day or day’s worth of work, if I had the redwood or cedar to work with.

Heck, I could throw enough tools to do this in the truck and help some volunteers down there build the things if they could come up with the wood. It’d make a nice weekend break.

Anyone down that way got ideas for coming up with wood? A line on a bunch of old pallets, maybe? A deck place with scraps?

Well Dan , Since I used to date a now famous daughter of Petaluma , I would love to donate all the cedar you need for this project .I am quite a few hours away , but if you can figure out how to get the wood to the job site , I would be happy to have my sawyer fill your cut list.

Barry,
I am working to find donor for the Redwood for the several tables. I do have a set of plans from the USDA [National Parks Department] for the construction of these tables and benches. Will find those plans and have them available tomorrow.
I am working on a hardware supplier for the galvanized nuts/bolts/washers required to make the tables last a life-time.
