Here’s a rare 1969 Black & Decker U336 SAWCAT 6-1/2” Circular Saw, Type D. See link here. The owner’s manual suggests a transitional period to the new model #ing system. Thus, later versions of the same saw got out under model 7370. ~Ben

Skilsaw Super Duty 866, 867, 868 Saws - 3 replies

Does anyone know anything about the Skilsaw Super Duty line of saws models 866, 867 and 868? These were sold between 1978 and 1981 and were similar to models 552, 553 and 554 respectively. Compare with model 553: I can’t seem to single out any differences between the two trios other than their distinctive badging. ~Ben

Skil Date Codes Through the Years - 1 reply

While I can decipher all the Skil alpha date codes for their stuff made between January 1974 and December 1997, I am wondering whether or not Skil actually used the letters A-M (excluding “I”) as date codes for their products made from 1950 to 1973? I’ve just solved the riddle as to the alpha date codes Skil used on its product from the mid ‘70s through the mid ‘90s. The part of the code involved is the year and month. Montgomery Ward "Powr-Kraft" Tools by Black & Decker - 3 replies

Do any of you (still) have any Montgomery Ward “Powr Kraft” power tools that were glorified versions of Black & Decker power tools from the 1978-83 period?
