misaligned bandsaw wheels, ok/not ok? - 8 replies
I just received a powermatic 14” bandsaw, with the riser block. The wheels were coplanar without the riser block but after installing it, they are parallel but the two planes are off by about 1/16”.This amount of misalignment seems pretty small to me but I don’t have experience tuning a bandsaw, so what do you think? leave it a...

Hand tool class, recommendations? - 3 replies
Hi, I’m not too good with hand tools, I get the concept but would benefit from getting some instructions on the proper use and tuning of planes, chisels, scrapers, saws… the typical woodworking hand tools. I’m after things like flattening a board, cutting mortise and tenon and dovetail joints, properly using a smoother, etc....

Rewiring DC to 220V. Comments? - 5 replies

I am thinking about rewiring the D...

transporting sheet goods - 39 replies
I don’t have the luxury of owning a pick-up truck, I just have the old SUV that carries the family around. So to get plywood and other sheet goods home is somewhat of a pain since I have to get it cut where I buy it to fit in the back of the SUV. It works ok most of the time since I usually plan my cutlist before I buy the material but I a...

Nicked jointer blades - 13 replies
I bought a JET jointer over the weekend, the 6” with the long bed. It’s a solid machine, flat bed and fence, works great so far. My first piece through it was a small piece of poplar, just to check the setup, went fine, really smooth surface. Then I moved on to cherry, 2 pieces about 2 feet long 5 1/2 ” wide that I’m usi...
