Location: Melbourne, Australia

Retired public servant who started by having a go at building an acoustic guitar which led (in a roundabout way) to woodturning and a bit of general woodwork. Not having done any woodwork since high school it was all a bit of a challenge. I'll never be brilliant at it but I love getting out into the workshop and putting in best efforts. Even though my fourth guitar is about to come off the bench, woodturning has become my number one pastime and with the help of some very fine turners, I'm actually starting to improve!

Hi there, Unfortunately I already have mine, had it about a month and am in the middle of building the bench for it. I did how ever ring the local Carbatec branch and they are not reducing the price…it may be a distance thing with WA. I think their main storage depot is in Brisbane. Any way I am happy with it but would be much happier to get it at that reduced price…hahaha When I finish the bench I will post it in new projects.

Bummer Dave, It seems, apart from demo store stock, all the lathes are in Brisbane so mine is being shipped down next week. A strange response from carby Perth as my understanding was if you order from the web store then they ship it from the warehouse in Brisy to the nearest branch as a freebie. Still, no good to you now. Have you fired it up yet?

I found your post while Googling the 2024, looks like it’s led to a really good forum!
