I’ve been working on some shelves for my garage. I took the plans from woodgears, and modified them to custom fit some of my stuff. It turns out that it wasn’t quite a simple as I wanted it to be. There are lots of dimensions to keep square, and it wasn’t all that easy to do it by myself. I had do redo a few of the shelves to square some things up. Though, it has enough glue and screws to hold it together well. Once I put it up to the wall and anchor it, it will be solid enough.

It also doesn’t help when the garage floor isn’t flat. Found out that there is a 3/4 in drop in the 1.5’ distance from the garage wall. I can only assume that this was done on purpose when the place was built, to push water away from the house wall and out the garage door.

All-in-all, the best way to learn some of this stuff is to just get out and do it; and despite my wife’s “encouragement”, I managed to build something worthwhile to me.
