I am new to woodworking. I have been a small time hobbyist for a couple of years and now I want to get more serious. I have a shoddy workbench comprised of 3 2x10x10s supported by 2x4 frames. That will be my first major project. My end goal is to get into cabinet making. I have always loved shaping stock into something useful, now I want to maneuver into the professional side.

Last night I hand cut my first dovetail joint. It looks like hell, but the second one looked 10 times better. I think with more practice, and a harder wood (whitewood is nice and cheap, but mostly like a thin balsa wood), I will be on my way to better joining
