These were made from some very old Birdseye Maple, a local mill pulls up sinker logs, the tree was about 100 years old and been down there for another hundred.

Two more done, been too HOT for much else so, iv’e been hiding down in the basement. The first is Better Half from veneered BB Ply one Maple and one Cherry, what started out as a way to save some not so great BB has led to me wanting to veneer everything.The whiskers are a little bit tense to cut, you only get one shot at it, theres no going back to clean them up. Love Hope Faith is from the latest issue of CWWC. Made mine with 1/2” Lacewood.

Been wanting to make this for a while. Long time Scrollers should recognize this one,made a few design changes, mainly on the roof, made my own hand split cedar shakes and aluminum ridge caps. Also used a two tone paint job instead of all white and reinforced the bottom so it can be mounted on a post.

Poplar w/ Stained 1/8 BB ply overlay
Stained Poplar w/ 1/8 BB ply veneered w/ Curly Maple
Poplar w/ 1/8 BB ply veneered w/ Ribbon Mahogany
And last but not least an experiment with Hardboard 1/4” stained Ebony w/ 1/8” plain overlay. kind of gives it an Art Deco look.

I switched the small Crosses on the first two, the variations are endless. My wife likes the Ribbon Mahogany best. What do you think?

Hey Everyone

I’ve had this one half finished for a few months, finally devoted some time to it. It took about 8hrs. to cut, 322 holes. Each one is 1/8” BB Ply with 4 different veneers Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany, and Quited Maple. I like the Maple best, what do YOU think.

Hey Everone This is my first project post here, I had some BB plywood with patches on both sides so i decided to veneer them. I got a good deal on some Mahogany,Birds eye and Quilted Maple, took about 5 Hrs. to cut. I’m kind of partial to the Birds eye.——-What do you think?.——-Thanks for your input.
