« Part 1: Waiting for the truck to arrive. Part 2 of A 14" Grizzly comes to Matthews, NC series no next part

the lift sent chills up my spine. The UPS Freight driver told me he was told to make my delivery last. I muttered my disappointment but then guy said he didn’t know why. He apologized as he was aware of what he was delivering. All was okay, the box was here and I was about to venture into unknown land. Then as he pulled the pallet jack to the back of the truck I saw it. It was blaring out at me, laughing…a huge gaping hole in the box!! NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO:cough,cough::OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo. (Picture Ralphie here, in that scene where he’s…oh nevermind).

Anyway, I watched as the driver, pallet jack and bandsaw descend from the back of the truck on the lift, I told the driver what I saw. He said he saw it too when it was loaded onto his truck. We both made note of the damage and I went to reach for my handtruck. I was thinking I was going to have to haul that mother up my 20’ driveway! ALL THE WAY!!! BY MYSELF!!!! Whatever!

Anyway, the UPS driver was a nice guy. (I swear he had only had this job for about an hour when he offered to use the pallet jack to drag my bandsaw into my garag…er…shop.) He helped me get the box off of TWO pallets it was on. It was too funny to watch me wrestle the box open to try to find the manual. Next will be how to put a bandsaw together.

Oh and photos are on the way, the camera battery went dead! ::insert funery music here::

Can’t wait to see the pictures. I had to haul mine up my driveway on a handcart. No liftgate on the truck either. But that’s all past now and I’m still happy with the saw.

No pics = didn’t happen :-)

Congrats on the new saw! These things just don’t always happen without a touch of drama and tension, do they?

I hope the damage was JUST to the corrugated, and that your Grizzly is fierce, standing on its hind legs, and eating all the wood in the area !!!

I have a Grizzly 14 inch. Did you get the riser as well? After a bit of aligning, it went right to work. I found the blade to be a bit cheap but that is usally the way it goes when a new saw comes in. I replaced it right away with a new TimberWolf. Works great. I have added a riser so i can resaw taller pieces. The only negative I can say is the dust collection port is not very effecient. Me being the a backyard engineer I am, capped off the original dust port an added one on the door right where the dust falls. Works farrrrrrr better. Good luck and happy sawing.

-- In the end it is more about the memories we make than the pieces we build.
