no previous part Part 1 of A 14" Grizzly comes to Matthews, NC series Part 2: Slowly it decsends...the creepy, spine tingling noise it makes... »

As I sit here at my kitchen table I notice that my neighbor across the street has decided he needs to park sideways in the lower part of his driveway and partly on the street. I ponder if I should wake his rear end now or after the UPS Freight delivery truck crunches his bumper.

Most people deliver a baby in a hospital or a home delivery unit (i.e. bathtub, go figure!) But I wait here, patiently updating my friends on FaceBook every 15 minutes…NOPE, not here yet! ::sigh::
This is going to be my baby. If I can do it, I want to start making small projects on this thing and if I feel they are good enough, I may try to sell them. It’s like trying to sell the puppies of course, it’s going to be hell but I will have to let my projects go out the door. Wow, I haven’t even cracked the box and here I am dreaming of being a cabinetmaker or something like one.

For now, woodworker will be my title, unless I get a job, then who knows. Right now, thanks to good ol’ Uncle Sam I get my bandsaw. My first bandsaw. (Had to go update my FaceBook page!).
Once I finish my first “real” bandsaw box, I will post photos of it here. I will hem and haw about every little detail and enjoy the waves of encouragement lapping at my feet. Or smacking me in the head, one.

For those of you who haven’t a clue as to WHICH bandsaw I have purchased, it’s the “Grizzly 14 Ultimate Bandsaw with the riser kit, thank you very much!

It’s funny, the riser kit came out of PA and arrived yesterday. It sits on my bench just waiting for me to install it. It calls out to me every now and again…installl me, install me. Ghostly without it’s proper place in life.

Well, I’ll just sit here and wait until it arrives and watch as it slowly descends from the truck and approaches it’s new life with me. Until then…

Congrats! I have the same saw. Haven’t gotten around to installing the riser yet though.

Okay, I’m excited about your delivery too! Did it come yet? I look forward to seeing your projects.

Congrats: I hope you enjoy your new bandsaw as much as I have mine. After you have had it for a while you might consider getting the Optional Riser block kit (H3051) if you have any plans on resawing.

I earned mine when I was in Jr High not the same brand but very usefull over the years.

Anna-Catherine, it is always exciting when we add a new tool to the shop so I can well understand your anticipation. You chose a quality saw and I have always had a great deal of respect for Grizzly’s customer service.

Yeah, it has arrived. I am sorry to hear about the damage. I hope you will update us on the specifics.

I didn’t understand the bit about Uncle Sam though. Is there a goverment run band saw program I should be aware of?

Ahhhhh, bannnnnddddssaaawwwww. Me loves my new bandsaw! okay, just so ya know, I forgot to take pictures of my friends and I putting the darn thing together. The damage was only to the box. Grizzly must have learned how to pack or UPS was having an off day. LOL
Anyway, It’s all together and I have been putting it through it’s paces and refining the adjustments. I am using the 105” raker blade the riser kit came with, just to get used to the saw. I plan to get a Timberwolf blade when I get a few more dineros saved up. Thankfully I have a little bit of project wood in stock right now.
