I made this kind of “quick and dirty” jig for cutting splines in the corners of picture frames today and thought I’d share. The frame in the clamp is cherry. I’ll post a pic of the finished frames…when they’re finished. The jig seems to work well, so far. I used to just put a couple of brads in each corner, I think this should be stronger. The miters were cut with a “Lion miter trimmer” I’ve not made a lot of jigs so this one took some time, probably a couple of hours. Hope this helps someone.

That clamp idea is priceless. The key is the loose triangular shaped piece.

It works really well. One thing to note, and this may be obvious, but if you assemble with screws, make sure to keep them out of the possible path of the blade. If you’re wondering, no I didn’t hit any screws-just thought about that as I was assembling it.
