Thanks for the warm welcome everyone ! ! !
A little about me…..
Woodworking has been in my blood ever since I was a small kid. I grew up on a dairy farm where there was always tools and lumber around and my dad let me do/built what ever I wanted. He would just let me know when I went too far like the time I used the T & G cherry flooring stored in the garage for the clubhouse. As a kid I remember my dad logging the woods several times and trips to the saw mill to pick up loads was just the "best ever". How I ended up as a food scientist is beyond me.
My kids say "Dad your obsessed with wood, get over it"
Being a single dad limits my budget for tools and equipment so buying older tools and restoring them from Craig’s List and Estate Auctions have served me very well. Its a great way to get quality tools at very reasonable prices, found you just have to be very patient. I am very handy that way the only downside is that I spend more time rebuilding my tools than actually building wood projects. Most of my shop equipment is pre 1955.
My Buddy icon pic is my sawmill (that’s newer) and is my all time favorite tool even though I don't actually build anything with it. I would rather spend 12 hours sawing in inclement weather than sitting in my comfortable air conditioned office at work … but I probably don’t have to convince anybody here at LJ’s. I've had it 5 years now and recommend everyone that can, get one. (even bought that at a garage sale).
My latest project(s) is 26” Cresent and 26” Silver band saw that I found at an estate sale.
As far as woodworking still looking for my niche. I done a lot of different things. Some day I would like to be like so many people here who build some really spectacular things. I think in order to get really good at something a person has to narrow the field and stay in one area. Looks like many of you have and done very well.
Thanks for looking at my profile and look forward to chatting with many of you.
Andy

Hello andy. I am new to lumber jacks and recently moved back to the buffalo area. I was wondering if you could give me any helpful advise about where do get my ruff cut lumber. I am new to getting ruff sawn lumber and milling it to finally dementions myself. I am just south of the city in west seneca. If your familiar with any of the south town mills, let me know. Any advice would be greatly appriciated.
thankyou
