Firstly the lack of piles of saw dust is due to my son earning his pocket money cleaning the shop and secondly it is a new digital camera so the photos are not great.
The first photo is of my old workshop – when I moved I sold a lot of my storage cupboards which I am regretting now! I am in the process of setting up a new workshop in a 7.5m x 7.5m garage.
Well now the next photos are of my new workshop. It is getting to the completed stage but still needs a lot more work. I need to get a sparky in to set up some more power points. Then I will need to install the main ducting for two seperate dust extraction systems (one for each half of the shop).
The second photo is of my measuring tool storage and some goggles and dust masks my kids use. I decided to locate in the entrance as to encourage them to use the safety gear.
The third is where I store all my Shopsmith attachments. This is actually the first bench I built in the shop. The workshop is a converted double garage. Behind this workbench is a set of cupboards for storage where one of the roller doors of the garage is the doors for the storage. I thought it was quite clever if I do say so myself. Beneigth is individual storage bins for my power tools labled on the front of each bin.
Photo 4 to the right is my ‘bits and pieces’ are, the drawers housing router, fortner and drill bits. Also chisels (standard and carving), hammers and a host of other bits. My leigh dovetail jig is stored benieth. To the left is my smaller router table. Mounted high enough to as to not interfere with the outfeed table of my drop saw (next pic). Next to it is my large band saw – not its permanent place. Actually all the Dark Blue bench mounted tools are GMC (a budget tool brand) that I will rotate out of the shop as the $ become available.
Next we have my sliding compound dropsaw with raised infeed and outfeed tables. Around the drop saw are openings for offcuts to fall through into a, yet to be made, bin . To the left you can just see my thicknesser on a mobile tolley. On the wall I have my hand saw storage and clamps storage (yes I know I need more). Benieth will be my small stock storage (mainly for wood turning).
The final picture is of my two main lathes; The smaller of the two is mainly used for pen making and other small projects (key chains, perfume atomosers, etc.); The larger lathe is my main work horse for large projects.
Behind the smaller lathe will be mounted my lathe tools when my order of rare earth magnets come in. Beneigth the smaller lathe is my air compressor – I have yet to make a hood for it. I located it here as I tend to use the compressor a lot when turning.
What is not shown and you will have to view my projects to see them as I can only post 6 pics under workshops. Is my Shopsmith multi tool (you can just see it in pic #4).
Still to do list:
- Get an Electrician in to rig up some more power points.
- Install ducting for dust collection system.
- Build main workbench.
- Get kids to put tools away (okay this may just be impossible).
- Lots of other little things – is a workshop ever truely finished?.

Andraxia,
You have a nice shop space in which to work. It looks like you have organized your shop well and you have some nice tools to play with. I like the way you have utilized your available space- especially with the clamp storage.
Thanks for the post. I enjoyed visiting your shop.

Andraxia,
Great looking shop! Looks like you have a well thought out floor plan and storage.
Just one thing, you have violated the most sacred, unwritten, unpublished rule of the Lumberjocks site- you cleaned up BEFORE taking the pictures!!- you make the rest of us look bad ;^).

Great shop : ) I notice that your last two photos are virtually the same . You could delete one of them and add another in its place .
