So, the woodworking fever has struck me. Unfortunately, it has struck me to make cases for EVERYTHING. Cigarettes, Zippos, Business cards, puzzle boxes, etc…
This is my next project, once I have a bit of time. I recently destroyed (Pictures to follow) my iPod 4, 32g. I mean it bent in half. How it is still “working” is a mystery to me, but I can still access everything (as long as I remember the finger movements to find it, considering the screen is in a million pieces).
So in a fever dream, I opened up DraftSight on my computer and began fiddling. I came up with a 6mm case made from angled strips of alternate Red Cedar and Ebony with a cavity cut into it and handmade wooden buttons (power button, volume buttons and “wake-up” button). Now, I just need to find the time to complete my gradiose plans.
Why, oh why did a 6’4, 225 lb man decide to be interested in making tiny, fragile objects…
Any thoughts?

Here is what I’ve come up with for now, I need to redo the whole process in millimeters (it’s Germany, meh), but it’s a rough idea of what I’m doing

Ryan, how do you bend an iPOD in half?! I’m only asking because it’s been over a year since I killed my last one. :)

@Bertha
I like to call it “happenstance” simply because it was the worst of luck having my iPod fall out of my car at the same time as I was shutting the door. Imagine slamming your finger in the door.. now add $300..
I have to be careful, though, my wife will force me to make her one if this turns out well.
