I was home alone for the weekend and, as I am wont to do, decided to take advantage of the time to “Get Stuff Done.”
Saturday:
Trip to the lumberyard
Built a platform to level space for a shed
Assembled the shed which, contrary to what Rubbermaid claimed on their
website did not take 90 minutes but more like six hours. (Heck, it took 30
minutes just to peel the protective backing off of the pieces of plastic
that make the windows in the doors of the darned thing. Finally finished the
last part by flashlight at 9:30. Oh, and it was raining most of the time I
was doing this. Yes, I’m an idiot, but I’m a determined idiot.)
Also did 8 loads of laundry in between all of the other tasks
Sunday:
In-Laws came over to help me move the car bed to Sam’s room and set it up
which also involved taking his toddler bed apart and pretty much re-arranging his room because the new bed is freaking HUGE.
Mowed and trimmed the grass
Installed a new toilet seat
Put the screens in the screen doors and stowed the glass from the doors in the basement
Put a chain on the front door as Sam has figured out how to unlock and open it
Carried the laundry basket upstairs and, when reaching to open the baby gate
at the top, threw my back out.
Around 2:30 AM I gave up on the ibuprofen and drove myself to the E.R., got
a morphine shot and a prescription for vicodin, drove myself home (thankfully it’s only a 10 minute trip) and slept until noon on Monday.
Monday:
More vicodin, heating pads and trying to find a comfortable position to
sit/lay down.
Today I’m a little stiff and really sore, but getting better.
I think I may have overdone it this weekend.

Holy moly…. that was enough for an entire week, not just a weekend!!
Glad to hear you are getting better. It seems back problems are really affecting everyone this month.

Understand uncomfortable….bad shoulder and it’s the one I always roll on to when I finally get to sleep, which wakes me up in searing pain. At which point I usually give in and go down stairs to the couch or the recliner.
I have had a few weekends like that…. I remember when I got out of the service, I signed out of the post at 5 PM came home and loaded a three bedroom house by myself and was done by midnight. By that time I was in no shape to drive. Young and Dumb at the time.
How did your son like the bed? My son still has the toy box I build for his first birthday. The thing weighs a TON. I made it out of particle board (I was a college student at the time.) I will get around to cleaning it up and posting it some day.
Take care of the back, and be sure and play with the family more often….the time will fly by faster than you think.
