Some time back I came up with an idea for a project. The inspiration for this was do to my son and his collection of Lego’s being all over the house and stepping on them at the wrong time. So I decided that I would make a table that he could keep all of his Lego’s in and still build on top of. In short keeping them in one area, I hope. I made the sides out of some walnut and the rest out of oak. It’s approx. 3’ by 3’. I haven’t decided what to do finishing wise, so if you have any idea please let me know. Thanks for looking.

Trouble is, I can’t find any one with a 20’’ or bigger plainer. All I have is a 13’’. Any one in the Oklahoma City, OK area would be great.

About a week or two ago I found a deal on Craigslist.org for some cheep red oak. Now I have been trying to get around the price of finishing off one of my friends projects for him on the cheep seeing how its cost him a lot of money all ready. So two days ago I called the gentlemen from the add and he said he had a deal for me. He has about 30 or so 2×12 and 8 to 12ft long pieces of red oak that he is trying to get ride of and says that his dad cut them down 25+ years ago and he just wants it gone so he can move his boat in to this storage where the wood is being kept. He was going to make another gentlemen that was buying power tools from him take all the wood as well. I told the man I was really interested in the wood and how much was he thinking off getting ride of it for. Well he tells me he will let the hole lot of wood go for $200. Mind you there is also some walnut in there. Deal and two days later I’m off on a road trip two hours away to get some wood for a deal. I think to my self, this isn’t going to be to bad drive two hours, load up in an hour and two hours back home say total six hours. Well that’s not how it always goes. Needless to say we got off to a bit of a late start and got there later then I wanted to. Never less we get there take a look at what he has for sell and figure out that its a steal of a deal and start loading this double axle trailer my friend let me borrow from him. So as we are loading and the pile of wood keeps getting higher and higher I start thinking in the back of my head, “I hope the truck will pull the load!” We get it loaded and trust me its a lot of wood a lot of white oak. We thought the smart way to load this trailer would be right between the axles to keep the tong weight down. This was a bit of a mistake we come to find out as we are leaving town with a trailer overloaded and a little TrialBlazer in-line six, pulling some big weight. I pull out on to the interstate and start down the road going about 40 mph. Well as we are come down the the first hill I figure I’ll pick up a little speed and get a move on. Well about that point we are moving some where between 45 and 50 mph. The next thing I know is I’m being slammed from one side to the other and the truck is all over both lanes. The poor people behind me are backed way off at this point because I’m sure they are thinking I’m about to flip and things are going to get real ugly real quick. Thank the big man in the sky because I managed to get control back and got the speed back down to 40 mph. We kept going for a mile or so and pulled off the road to a Flying J’s truck to stop and pull what seat was left out of our rectum and make sure the load was still good. Made a few phone calls and come to find out that we should have put some more weight forward on the trailer tong to keep it from doing that. At this point its so late and I really don’t want to reload all that wood we just stuck to going 40 mph all the way back home. Needless to say it was a long trip but I think it will be worth it in the end. Well let me know what you all think.
