Not offended. You being in school doing this on the side is a different category.
I think though that you would get better response by approaching it in a different way. Many of the people producing videos professionally are not experts either. I would suggest that you put those developing production skills together and make downloadable project videos of things as you work on new projects in a more focused manner as premium content.
You might also keep a list of the gaps in your tool kit that might be another way to to let people contribute to your productions. Many people may have spare tools kicking around that would go a lot further.
