Hello fellows, one more time I would like to show you how brazilian woodworkers has to invent ways to make services better and fast.I decide to share because in Brazil MDF furniture became very popular and the PVC band is part of the job for cover edges.I don’t know how popular MDF is in USA or Europe but if help one person will be
rewarding.
In Brazil no pre glued band can be found at stores. We can order from USA or Europe. But the prices for shipping are not very friendly.
At this video a fellow from brazilian woodworking forum shows how to apply contact cement at MDF edge using a jig.

So I copied the ideas and make one jig and three diferentes support to use with PVC band I use more often.Simple, quickly, clean and cheap.
Here the jig
I cutted 3 MDF stripes for my normal use PVC size (22,35 and 50 mm)

Mounted at vise

That’s quite the ingenious little glue spreader. Great job!
I hope you don’t mind me sharing my method. (just another way for you to think about)

I use an old pressure pot and spray gun to apply my contact cement.
Spraying strips of wood with contact cement.

Spraying the cabinet edge with contact cement.

Have your say...
