Why isn’t there any 5” dust collector fittings ?
Long story short, I bought a HF DC (dust
collector) The first one didn’t have a base
in the box, Took it back with no prob.
Opened new one and upon inventory
found 2 filters, 2 lower bags, 2 large clamps,
and 2 5” x 4” x 4” splitters ( whatever they’re
called ). So I built my Thein baffle seperator
with 4” fittings but when I mounted blower over
barrel I had to go from 5” to 4”. Ok I’ll change
seperator outtake to 5” ( I guess there’s no such
thing you can buy ) couldn’t find one so I decided
to call HF. Asked for manager and before I could
explain he told me come in and he’d open a new
DC and give me what I needed. I was gonna tell
him I had extra parts so I could get what I needed
but didn’t have to. So off I went, No problems, I
put 5” fitting on top of my barrel and is working great,
There is a 1/16 gap between blower and barrel
that I fold a wide rubber band over to seal up,
Easy removal !
(Still can’t figure out why you can’t get 5” fittings )
they are free for the taking. I wouldn’t know how
we’d hook up but apparently 5” fittings are hard to
come by. Thanks for your interest in my rambling.
Andy
So if anybody needs the 2 Y fittings (5”x4”x4”)

I have that dust collector also but couldn’t figure out now to hook it up to my barrel. Currently, I am using the wye with one capped off and four inch to the barrel.
Your pics are crooked. If you straighten them up it would be really helpful.
Edit: I see the 5 inch fitting you are talking about. Mine didn’t have anything like that in the box.

I’m gonna try to rotate photos,
Sorry if same. I’m sure u had to bolt a
5” fitting on your blowers output side
to run to your filter and bag. Rectangle
on blower 5” round out to plastic hose. That fitting is the one I needed on
top of seperator to line up with input
of blower

Andy, I have had problems posting pictures from my cell phone. They would post sideways.
But, if I would crop the image, even if I didn’t actually crop any of the image, the mere fact I cropped it, the picture would then upload and post with correct orientation.
Did you have to order that fitting extra?
Here is my set up. I would like to come out of the barrel to the blower suction with five inch hose, but I haven’t found anything that will fit the blower. That way I can eliminate the wye fitting.
Thanks
Mike

I called Harbor Freight and asked about buying one and
the manager just assumed I didn’t get that fitting with my
DC, I didn’t tell him any different. He opened a new DC
up and just gave me the fitting.

I am am looking at the same issues so I am going to try using 5 inch fittings I found in the Chimney pipe/HVAC section at Menards as well as the much cheaper 4 inch pieces I found in the plumming section.

I used a 5” to 4” reducer in the plumbing section of Home Depot. The rubber ones with the hose clamps built into each end. Cheap, works great.
