« Part 2: The Materials Part 3 of Building the AskWoodMan Roubo series Part 4: Mad dash »

Small progress was made over the last few days. I’m only able to work about 1-2 hours a night after I finish my normal father duties. Its starting to come along.

So Instead of dropping in the cross-supports into dados I decided to cheat and use some SPAX screws. This is not exactly what I had in mind but much quicker.

The resulting frame is super stout… and not too heavy. I imagine I’ll make another one with more dense wood and take a little more time to do it. At this point I’m just in “get it done” mode.

I also made a mistake, the inside of the box truss is too narrow for the wilton vice so I needed to notch out a section on each side so the vice could clear.
Its ugly I know.. but it’ll be behind a vice when I’m done with it.

Next was the bandsaw jig. Since I’m working with a tracksaw I’m unable to cut through the wood I’m using for the legs. I needed an accurate 10 degree cut so I used the jig that Alan uses in his videos

Worked out great!

My only problem is that since my bandsaw table is so small it requires a bit more coordination to make the cuts. My next side project will be to extend the table so that I can work a bit safer. I have a few more cuts to make and I don’t want to mess it up…

That’s it for now..
