Returning to woodworking after 32 years .. wow I am old..I was enrolled in a Industrial Arts college in PA to be a "shop teacher" I loved it all, graphic arts , metal , but my love was wood, well after 3 kids 26, 28 and now a 3 year old the passion is back after refurbishing a 1930" Lane Cedar chest that was about to be tossed in the dumpster( family item that no-one knew about, covered in contact paper and paint) I am an ER nurse in Clearwater Florida. I have minimal space and only a few tools , a few hand planes I refurbished 2 flea market types , 1 works great , the Stanley,, and I bought 2 new ones middle price range. So with NO table saw , miter saw , planer or joiner I am trying to create something, I am concentration on practicing dovetail joint and have bought a LN dove tail saw and some nice chisels, so off I go to make some shavings, I have thecutting edges sharp now..I will have many questions, first one is what kind of table saw should I get as my first real power tool , or perhaps something else? jointer planer miter saw?...

Thanks guys..Scott....

Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a few months ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ’s as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…

WOW guys i forgot about this, I have now outfitted my shop ! Table saw , 8” Delta jointer , Dewalt Planer , drill press, (benchtop) used , used Harbor Frieght Band Saw ( 50$ ) works good.. plenty of power tools , routers , and a Bench Dog extension table for table saw with router . Awesome. Makita miter saw. Mid-life crisis spending.. lol..
Oh and the mortising machine that I am having problems with and I posted the details on another thread.

Thanks for the kind welcome guys. ! I have this site bookmarked now.
