I have been in the woodworking field my entire career; spanning over 20 years. I recently worked for a well known yacht builder, Burger Boat, eventually becomming the asst. millwork manager. Previous to that I did custom cabinetry in the residential and commercial field for over a decade. I have dealt with some of the rarest woods on the planet and have been recognized as a true artisan by many in this industry

Hi Aaron,

I purchased the lower end mortise machine MC-625, a few weeks back and I’m a little disappointed with the machine so far. I can make basic mortises, but the slides move strangely, adjusting the “slider ways” to move mostly straight makes them bind in some spots. I have yet to make a straight sided mortise. I have spend time sharpening the chisels and still get scallops on the sides from the chisel bit. I don’t know if this is representative of the the model or not. In some places the cast iron wasn’t painted, the holes that hold the table stops had to be cleared by scraping the holes clean. I mean the holes were almost hidden they were so full of hardened sand I believe.

Could you help me get another unit to try?
