Another post popped up yesterday about a downed tree. When I showed up, the tree was left completely as is, without any tinkering from the owner.
Luckily, the owner was fine with me doing whatever I wanted with the tree right there, so I went ahead and cut 2" slabs until I had to meet my wife for dinner.
All told, I was there about 2 hrs and drove away with 3 slabs - 2"x20"x48" and 3 slabs - 2"x20"x56". That's a fair number of board feet all for free!
Hoping to go back for another 6-8 slabs in a few days.
