I made this frame as a gift for my friends wife…

The frame is African Mahogany ( I think), with Maple inlay and splines. The backboard is a piece of oak that I resawed to 1/8” , its 5 boards I book leaf matched to the best of my skill level, I also have never used an inlay or splines before which didn’t help at all, also cut the mat myself… (first time for any of this resawing too), used 3 coats of Formbys low gloss Tung Oil wipeing varnish ( called it that because everone goes nuts about the name, lol)...

She has recently started competing in Figure and Fitness modeling and although she has only entered two shows this past one she placed in the top 5 in the Figure class in her second show…

I had been thinking how I would go about building it for the past 7-8 months…

I came up with so many ways to do it for the various inlays and joints it almost made me dizzy…

I knew it would be difficult ( I had no idea how difficult) from the get go because it had to be eight sided…

Considering as I said my first time I really cant get over it, I am so happy its unbelievable to me…
