I have not posted much lately but still enjoy Lumberjocks very much. This blog entry is to tell my buddies here about the Pinterest site. Pinterest is an online pin board where you can organize and store images and videos that you’re interested in. I have found this site very useful to store images and video of woodworking and workshop ideas. On Lumberjocks in the past, I have read forum topics about being able to organize our Favorites, a feature that has not been developed. I have saved an excessive amount of Favorites and wish there was a better way to go back and find a certain Favorite. I have started using Pinterest to organize all the great lumberjocks ideas or even inspiring images. Although I have pinned topics other than woodworking I have really enjoyed setting up my Pinterest page found here www.pinterest.com/559dustdesigns/ and hope this will be helpful to other Lumberjocks. Lumberjocks has its own Pinerest page and they often post the Editors choice project. Setting up and using Pinterest is easy but best of all its free. I was even able to put a link to my PInterest page as the website on my LJ profile or home page. If you have your own Pinterest page and don’t mind sharing it here post it in a comment below.

I just signed up on pinterest last week. Haven’t fully tried it out but it really caught my attention, and looks like something I could actually use. I pinned a few folks that have some amazing photograph to my page, and a private page for my stuff. My wife and kids said, “really, you never heard of pinterest”. Yes, really…

You may also notice that there has been a “PinIt” button on each Lumberjocks Project page for quite a while. My wife has been using Pintrest pretty much since it started and frequently shows me ideas for how she wants my next project to be.

I agree that Pinterest is a great site! I also use it as an organization tool, and it’s wonderful for that. I’d say as a supplement to the Lumberjocks’ community it could be invaluable. I’d be happy to share my “pins” with any one who looks me up on there!

I agree, the Favorites page on LJ is pretty sad. Just becomes an unruly collection of photos.
I have given up saving anything there and just save my favorite projects to My Pictures in my computer. That way I can organize them as you have done on Pinterest.
I like the way you have everything in different categories. I have always seen Pinterest as a web site for women but I have used the search a few times to find different wood related topics. Not sure how you set your Pinterest page up but it looks to be useful…...............................

I know I’m not the only one from Lumberjocks that uses Pinterest too.
