Since I have been on the site for a while, I thought I would post some pics of my so called work shop. It is a one car garage, that is used more as a storage shed than anything else. I have carved out a little area for my self, but not much. You always hear about guys complaining about their small shops, well this is one of those. Whenever I have large sheet goods or boards to work, I have to empty a number of items out of the garage, then setup my saw horses or saw benches to work on, which is okay here in sunny San Diego. I normally have just enough space in front of my work bench to do hand work when planing or cutting boards. Power is a shared 15amp ckt from the house (honey, please stop using the vacuum cleaner and don’t use the hair dryer while I am in the shop) so my selection of power tools is limited by space and power. The scroll saw is on a moveable stand and the mortiser is inside the roll around stand. Also, when it rains, the garage floor gets very wet, the driveway is sloped towards the front of the garage and water comes right in. Used to have a router table but the legs finally rotted away from years of water getting wet. I kept the old top and will eventually build a new table when time permits. All in all, I am grateful that I at least have this space, may not be the best, may not be the worst, but it’s mine and I love the time I get to spend in there.
When we eventually move to our new house, I plan to upgrade the tablesaw (currently an old HF special), and add a jointer, dust collection and bandsaw.
Updated 8-25-09:
I added a few new pictures to show the partially cemented in floor, should have done the whole thing at once, will fix that later. Also added a new tablesaw and jointer.

Don’t you feel bad my friend mine is only 10×12 with an extension of 4×12 to store my lumber so in the summer time I do a lot of my work outside and this time of the year (winter months) I just close up shop, I have a lot more tools than space

You have done a nice job with the space that you have available and I really like your hand tool collection as well as the storage cabinet where you organize them. It is always nice to see traditional methods being used for woodworking projects. I have long neglected these skills and am just now beginning to start “honing” these latent abilities. :)
You have organized your shop well and it is good to see some shaving on the floor. It makes the shop look like it is being used. It would be nice if you had someplace else to store the “non-essentials” that are in your shop but, like you, it seems that whenever a non-tool item needs to find a home it usually ends up in a corner of the shop.
Thanks for the pictures. I enjoyed visiting your shop.

I think your tool chest is a miracle of your shop…as well as your electrical needs. You accomplish alot with your little shop…and while I have more space…time in my shop is always a miracle to me…I don’t get enough. Thanks for sharing the pictures of your shop.

Pat
I really like your shop. What caught my eye is your Hitachi scroll saw, and the collection of hand saws displayed on your wall, very nice. I have the same table saw, I would also like to move up to a power matic or delta- anything high end, but the TS3650 is a great compromise when money is tight.
