A Very Mini Shoulder Plane
This was a total impulse purchase, when I got the ad I couldn’t pass it up, if you are into hand planes, then you know what I mean ;o) Last week at the WW Show in SoCal, the LV rep had one and let me try it out. I knew it was going to be small, but Wow, it is very mini. The Norris Style adjuster makes setting the blade quick and easy. In use, I found it somewhat difficult to use on tenon shoulders due to it’s very small size. It worked better when the tenon was shorter than...
Perfect Sized Marking Guage
When I first saw this Marking Guage by LV, I did not hesitate to purchase it. This is exactly what I had been wanting. It never fails that when I am using my single sided Marking Guage, I always forget to mark all my boards before changing the marking guage setting. Trying to go back and get the exact setting from the previous setting is almost impossible. So when I saw this marking guage I had no doubt this would be just what the doctor ordered. I especially love the small pocket size, ...
No more Screwdriver Hari Kari
If you are like me, at some time in the past you have jabbed yourself with a screwdriver while attempting to either remove or install the screw btwn the Plane Blade and Chip Breaker. Or I have had blowout when not using the correctly sized screw driver. When I saw this Plane Screwdriver at LV, I knew it was just what I needed. It is reasonably priced at $14.50, which would probably make a nice xmas gift for a fellow woodworker. It fits all types of planes, including my old Stanely #3, LN ...
A Very Versatile Clamp
I picked up these clamps when they first came out and have been extremely happy with them from the start. They need a 3/4” diameter hole to fit the bottom wedge assy into, tighten the knob and you are ready to clamp. Their holding power is terrific and very easy to release and move around as needed. I use these clamps all the time and they work great, I couldn’t imagine working without them.As ususal, the quality of the tools from Veritas is excellent, I highly recommend adding...
Beautiful Saws that are awesome in use.
These saws are my favorite tools that I own. I don’t know where I would be at in my woodworking if I hadn’t stumbled across an article about the dovetail saw a couple of years ago. As many of us early on in our woodworking, I wanted to become an expert at making dovetail joinery. But I was getting no where with my efforts and had tried several different styles and saws to get better, with no luck. Then I read an article about how the quality of the saw makes a big difference i...
Easy to Use, Easy to Adjust, What's not to like
This is the second project I am using this Router Plane on and it is working great. It is very easy to make adjustments and lock down the blade. The handles are in a very comfortable position which makes it very easy to control the cuts as you push\slice thru the 1\2” dado in this case. I am making more shelving for inside my tool cabinet to accomodate several new planes and hand saws. I have only used this plane on Pine and Poplar, but will be trying it out on some Bubinga next, I&...
Don't look at the price tag, just buy this ROS!
Okay, after reading the earlier review of another Festool ROS, I thought I would chime in. After many years of reliable service from my old BD ROS, it finally died a happy death last week. I stumbled across this model whiile in the local Rockler and fell in love. I tried every item that came with this sander in the store and couldn’t believe the ease of use and how well it performed. At home I tried it on a piece of Mahagony and it came out feeling like glass. There is almost no vi...
Love this Drill Press but get help with assembly
This Drill Press was a present to myself for a lot reasons; one of which was putting up with an old 8” Delta Benchtop Drill Press that just wasn’t getting the job done anymore. If you are not used to working with assembling parts and equipment, than ask someone for help. The owner’s manual’s procedures left out two items which I have copied from an email I sent the manufacturer:“Your Assembly Instructions left out one key item. It failed to address the fact tha...
